Description
Ron Barceló Imperial Onyx is an exceptional Dominican rum that captivates even the most demanding aficionados with its depth and unique character. This is a carefully selected blend of rums that have been aged for up to ten years in heavily charred oak barrels (known as “heavy char”). This intense aging process imparts unrepeatable and robust notes.
The Secret to its Uniqueness
After maturation, the rum undergoes a special filtration process through authentic Onyx stones. This mystical technique bestows upon it exceptional smoothness, elegance, and an added layer of complexity.
Sensory Profile – Aged and Complex
Colour: Deep mahogany with amber (copper) hues, reflecting its rich maturation and woody tones.
Body: Robust, structured, and of a distinguished character.

Finish: Long and persistent aftertaste, leaving a pleasant feeling of warmth and satisfaction.
Onyx Filtration – More Than Just Rum
The Onyx stones used for filtration are crystals of inner strength and are considered a potent protective stone and talisman. Traditionally, they bring harmony, stability, and happiness, and strengthen self-confidence. Filtration through Onyx not only gives the rum exceptional smoothness and elegance but also wraps it in an aura of mysticism.
Natural Quality
At Ron Barceló, quality comes first. As with all premium Barceló rums, no sugar is added to this rum (only caramel for colour), ensuring a pure and natural taste derived from fermented sugarcane juice.
Ideal for
Enjoying neat, on the rocks, or as a sophisticated base for classic and contemporary cocktails (particularly recommended for a Dark & Stormy and darker Daiquiris). It also serves as an elegant accompaniment to a cigar.
